Day 110: Cilat (Cycle)
I very much enjoyed today's cycling, it was "una ruta fantástica"! I'm pleased I chose to visit Cilat, because I nearly did not. Instead, I thought I would take a more direct route towards Barcelona. However, looking at the Michelin map, there appeared to be some good cycling to be had on some roads designated as being scenic. Today's route provide that to be the case. Hopefully tomorrow's ride will also.
The route itself was on quiet roads that had some good climbing and descending and passed through numerous small pueblos, on average, probably one every 10 kilometres or so, such as Argelita:
Or, Zucaina, where I stopped for lunch:
And, where I watched the birds flying in and out of the small rectangular tower, opposite from where I sat:
Damn, I almost forgot, there was also a small dam, what's not to like?!
I definitely reccomend this route. I would also recommend the location where I'm parked if it wasn't for the young kids .... they don't half make a lot of noise! I assume the parents are oblivious to it! Funny that this should be the first time I've come across kids whilst travelling in Spain, perhaps the Easter holidays are the reason they're here and I've noticed them! So it goes! Otherwise it is near perfect.
Here's something that I particularly like about the Spanish language, there is absolutely no ambiguity as to how to pronounce words, which is most definitely not the case with English.
- Distance driven: 0
- Distance cycled: 85 kilometres
- Weather: Sunny all day, cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon and it was a bit windy early afternoon.
