Day 147: Sant Joan les Fonts (Cycle/Drive)

Just for a change, I thought I'd go for a bicycle ride! The first goal was to climb number 50 of "100 Greatest Cycling Climbs of Spain": Sant Marti Sacalm.

Looking somewhere else to go after the climb, I stumbled across a 6.5 kilometre climb from Osor: Santuari de la Mare de Déu del Coll d'Osor, with an average gradient of 7.3%, which would then afford me with the opportunity to visit the Presa (dam) and Pantà (reservoir) de (of) Susqueda.

After the ride there was some phaffing time before departing for Sant Joan les Fonts. On the way I thought I'd restock victuals, which resulted in me visiting 4 supermarkets!

  • Carrefour for the main shop ... but no salad cream!
  • Lidl for Granny Smith apples, fruit juice and Parmesan cheese ... but no salad cream!
  • Aldi for nuts and Portuguese tuna ... but no salad cream!
  • Mercedona for frozen veg, Greek yoghurt and milk ... but no salad cream!

I have run out of salad cream! .... clearly 3 bottles are not enough for a five month stay in Spain!

  • Distance driven: 18 miles
  • Distance cycled: 78 kilometres
  • Weather: Clear skies to start. Cloud cover increased as the day progressed. It is becoming too hot for me. Need to head north but, I currently have five more Spain rides to complete before the big (ish) leap north.
  • Location: Google Maps
