Day 166: Dol-de-Bretagne (Cycle/Drive)

Well, that's it, just about done! Today was my last day of cycling on this current adventure in Continental Europe (Spain and France).

Group photo, taken at the outskirts of Fougéres:

It was a very pleasant ride to Fougéres, where Europe's largest medieval castle can be found:

And where lunch was had.

On the return cycle to La Tanniere, we passed by this:

And that:

Fortunately our later cycle through a forest provided some shade and some respite from the sun.

Again, today's ride "officially" started at the care home in Montaudin. Our cumulative group distance ridden today came to 276 kilometres equating to a cash value of €55.2.

It's been a very enjoyable time spent in La Tanniere with Michael and Rachael; the weather has mostly be fine; the homemade cooking has been of the highest standard, of which the lemon cheesecake was the best. Finally, I've enjoyed the cycling in Bretagne with Michael, Jane, Ian and Michael and hope they have a great tour of Normandy, it's World War II beaches and other sites.

The ferry for Portsmouth, from St Malo, departs at 10.31 tomorrow morning.

  • Distance cycled: 58 kilometres
  • Weather: Rain early on, which delayed departure. It was overcast at the start of the ride but, glorious sunshine in the afternoon. Temperature rose to approximately 29°C
