Day 32: Moraira (Cycle)

The first day of the second month of this current campervan/cycling adventure.

So, obviously a cycle ride was needed in celebration of the occasion. It was not a very long ride but it did supply a reasonable amount of climbing.

The main climb of the day was the Port de Bėrnia from the opposite direction which we've previously ridden it. I was expecting it to be harder than it turned out to be! It is only when you look at the climb profile that you can see why. There is a lot of climbing with a fairly shallow gradient and two section where there is significantly steeper gradients of 9, 12, 14, and 17% and, it is descending these section that give the impression the climb is going to be hard.

At the summit, which may look familiar in a back-to-front, reverse, kind of way:

One othe signed climb was:

I did add on what I thought was going to be a short bonus climb to the "Font de la Mata". I must say that I was very underwhelmed by the whole experience .... perhaps I missed something?

At the end of the Cami de la Font de la Mata!

  • Distance driven: 0
  • Distance cycled: 78 kilometres
  • Weather: It was sunny when I departed at about 10 o'clock and the temperature was about 13°C. Within the hour it had clouded over and when I reached the Port de Bèrnia the T was down to 10°C. Back down in the valley it was 13°C, which pleased me as my outer extremities (hands and feet) were noticeably COLD!!
