Day 66: Retamar (Cycling)

Another day cycling from Retamar. This is because it remains the area with some of the best weather conditions within 100 kilometres of here: ignoring wind speeds, there was no forecasted rain and the cycletime temperature range was 18-20°C. However, the wind speeds were pretty high: 31-63 kph (approx. 19-39 mph). Yes, the headwinds were tough, the tailwinds were great, and the crosswinds were worse than the headwinds.

Besides the high wind speeds, the only real downside to today's ride was the number of inconsiderate drivers out on the roads today: driving too close and fast, oncoming cars overtaking without sufficient space to do so safely, and others unnecessarily sounding their car's horn. I don't know if it was just that, in their opinion, I wasn't close enough to the edge of the road or, they were just having a bad day! I suppose I noticed it more today because of the strong gusts of wind, which probably made me more aware of the dangers of driving so close to me in these conditions. However, I must say that I have generally found Spanish drivers to be pretty considerate towards cyclists. So it goes!

Here's today's one and only photo:

  • Distance driven: 0
  • Distance cycled: 74 kilometres
  • Weather: Mostly overcast; brightening later; high wind speeds; 18-20°C
