Day 8: Brawley
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday we had a tailwind and the sun was out, but not too hot. Today, a fierce headwind and temperatures in excess of 100°F as I cycled through the Yuma Desert.
Here is a photograph of Jacumba Airport; note the direction of the wind sock, well I was cycling in the opposite direction! The fence in the background marks the border between the USA and Mexico.
And, finally a photograph taken in Yuma Desert.
A tough day in the saddle, not so much the distance but, I think the main issue was the heat. As with last year's tour it will take a while to acclimatise.
