Day 104: Puebla de Sanabria (Cyclo)

Today's adventure was a cycle into and out of Portugal, some of which was on Michelin "scenic roads" that included two short offshoots. The first was to Santa Cruz de Abranes (among the handful of places where the Leonese dialect remains active. Not that I heard it being spoken!):

The second ended at a dead-end:

From my experience, I'd say the first detour is worth doing, the second not.

Next stop: Espana/Portugal border:

In Varge ....

... I stopped at the local café for coffee and pastal de nata. Except there was no postal de nata. So, in actuality, it turned out to be a coffee stop!

This way to Espanha, from Rio de Onor, Portugal:

A further ~300 metres of cycling brought me to the border ...:

... and the start of the final climb of the day, which has some steep ramps!

Obviously, after the climb, on the descent, I stopped to take this photograph of a distant mast ... It's been many a day since we last had one!

Except for the final climb, the ride with its fairly short climbs, was effectively good if you wish to do some "interval training", which I obviously wasn't. Also, the roads from Rio de Oner to the
ZA-925 road are "en mal estado"!
