I enjoyed another day on the bike cycling quiet roads with some good scenery. The ride started with a climb through Montanejos up to the Embalssament del Arenós:
Indeed, cycling the road from Montanejos to the reservoir it soon became clear that this area is very popular with the tourists. I may investigate this further tomorrow.
But, today it was onwards and upwards to this view of the pueblo Puebla de Arenoso:
Shortly thereafter I unexpectedly came across this sign:
Although it was not on today's itinerary, I obviously wanted to climb it, so I went off piste to the summit and back! A detour of roughly 10 kilometres.
It just so happens that when I stopped to take this photograph there was a man out walking his dog, that spontaneously erupted in absolutely crazy mental stupid barking as its owner struggled to restrain it. It was a tense standoff but, I stood my ground dear reader in the pursuit of recording this momentous achievement of reaching the climb's summit of exactly 1000 metres!
My lunch stop was in Villanueva de Viver:
Where this accidental photograph of the day was taken:
I had originally planned to stay here for two rides only but, given I like it here, the weather forecast is no longer predicting rain for hereabouts and I've discovered another nearby climb, I'll be staying another day.
