Day 130: Balaguer (Drive/Cycle)

There was a slight delay to the start of today's ride. This was due to the parking area I'd intended to use, which is adjacent to the River Segre, was inundado (flooded). Yes, it is definitely raining in spain.

The cycling and weather today was very good, which is good because the weather looks to be getting worse rather than better!

The first mountain pass was the Port d'Ager:

And here is a photo taken on the climb up to the Coll d'Agar looking towards Agar and the road I descended from the Port d'Ager:

And here we are at the coll:

And looking in the opposite direction we see the distant Pyrenees mountains:

The only problem with the climb to the coll was that much of the road was in very poor condition, which meant that the speed of descent had to be reduced! Also, to make matters worse, a big black cloud was blocking out the sun, which made for a cold descent!

However, on returning to the main road it was a most enjoyable scenic return ride to Balaguer.

I said it had been raining ... :

... And it looks as though there is going to be much more in the coming days! Lucky today's ride was a good one!

  • Distance driven: 9 miles
  • Distance cycled: 110 kilometres
  • Weather: At 7 the T was 7°C. It was 12°C at the top of the Coll d'Ager and the wind chill made it much colder on the descent. At lower altitudes it was about 20°C. All day, varying degrees of cloud cover.
