Day 14: Calp (Cyclismo)

Again, it was supposed to be a rest day ride today. Yet Michael was off on a mission as soon as the first couple overtook us as we neared the first climb of the day. Then, as soon as we reached the flatlands, Michael went into time trial mode! Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, I'm more tired today than yesterday!

However, I'm pleased to say that there was no recurrences of the cramping events I suffered yesterday.

First climb was a 4km 4.9% climb up to La Fustera (a.k.a (by the Brits, well, at least one!) as The Bakery Climb). A photo of the climb's profile was not taken because the Pro-team "Team Picnic-PostNL" were congregated about it: it didn't seem appropriate to ask them to move just so I could get my photo! Especially as they were clearly men at work!

A coffee stop followed our climb over the Montgó 2.3km 6.3% to Denia. Where the Cyclist's Cafe can be found on the coast road out of town.

We time-trialled up the coastal road to the Meridiá de Greenwich.

Oh yes, we then embarrassed the joy of more time-trialling to a new Costa Blanca climb for me: port/puerto de Sorell. Here's a photo of the climb's profile:

And one at the summit:

Note, the extreme elevation!

Another coffee was consumed at the Musette Cafe in Alcalalì before the mostly downhill return to Calp.
