Day 146: Les Planes d'Hostoles (Cycle)

The main climb of the day was a ride to the summit of Mare de Déu del Far (Our Lady of the Lighthouse). As a bonus, as you ascend to the summit you pass through the colls d'Uria and Condreu. Effectively for a ride to one summit you get two colls for free!


On my return journey, which included a section via the Via Verde Olot-Girona, I came across these ladies taking an early afternoon stroll, with calves.

I must admit, having heard and read of cows going "berserk" and killing folk, for example, when out walking their dogs, and especially in the presence of cows with carves, I was a little nervous about passing amongst them! Apparently, between March 2019 and March 2023, 22 people were killed by cattle Guardian

• Distance cycled: 63 kilometres
• Weather: Fine cycling weather, plenty of shade and a cool breeze for the climb. A bit of a chilly descent. Pretty hot late afternoon.
