Day 16: Calp (Cyclo)
Michael posing on the route up to Cumbre del Sol with Calp in the background:

Well, it was supposed to be our big day out on the bikes: 128 kilometres and roughly 2,800 metres of ascent. In actuality, it was 73 kilometres with approximately 1,300 metres of ascent.
The reason for the reduction in distance travelled and ascent climbed was down to tyre issues. My bike's front tyre had re-sprung a leak. Whilst Michael's rear tyre had been weeping tyre sealant for two days from a puncture that just wouldn't heal.
Accordingly, instead of departing at 9.30am, the morning was spent resolving these two punctures. My bike got a new front tyre and Michael's rear tyre's sealant was swapped out for Orange Sealant, which seams to have resolved his bike's weeping rear tyre. Long may it last.
Eventually, we hit the road at about 12:15pm for a ride up to Cumbre del Sol (3.8km, average gradient 9.8%) ...

... then on to Cap de la Neu Lighthouse and...

... coffee and cake at Arenal. Followed by a hilly ride up to La Fustera and a pleasant descent down to Calp, which could only be improved if it was not so windy.
Oh yes, I cooked tonight .... with much of it left over for more me to consume over the coming days!
