Day 16: Denia (Drive)

The AM was mostly taken up with booking accommodation for a future cycling adventure from Ardnamurchan to Lowestoft, which starts on the 2nd July.

Then I returned to living in the van. It has been a pleasure to share Michael and Noelle's rented holiday apartment these last few days whilst in Calpe. The cycling has been good, as has the company. Also it was good to meet Noelle's climbing friends.

On arrival in Denia I visited Lynn and the Sheffield folk that flew in from the UK today for what is now the third annual Denia cyclefest.

Unfortunately some have arrived very much suffering from coughs, cold and/or flu like symptoms. Indeed Darrell has been unwell for the past week and a half! So tomorrow will be a gentle ride out. Hopefully, the fresh air and sunshine will aid their recovery.

On arrival at my usual Denia parking area I was met by some rather grumpy Germans protesting that I was invading "their space" and, as such, I would need to move my van somewhere else. Somewhat similar to claiming the ownership of deckchairs via the placement of towels on deckchairs by the poolside or beach. Indeed, as soon as I'd parked up, they moved their sunbathing chairs from in front of their motorhome to in front of my campervan. Poor things, not knowing that I was without chairs, they needn't have bothered! In an attempt at Anglo-German cordiality I did offer to move my van further from theirs, which they almost accepted with good grace! Happy days.
