Day 23: Emita de Sant Vicent (Drive)

Hopefully, today was the last in a series of four days of jump-starts.

After a morning of research, I attempted to purchase a Varta H3 (600 402 083) (019) 100 Ah 830A CCA (length 353mm, width 175mm, height 190mm) battery online from Feu Vert (think of it as a Spanish Halfords!). Unfortunately, due to my lack of a NIF (Numerous de Identification Fiscal) number, I failed in this endeavour. Apparently all Spanish Nations require one of these to conduct tax related transactions.

I was keen to pay for the battery online because there was a discount of 25% compared to their in store price.

Nonetheless, I thought I'd visit the store, they had one in stock, and see whether I could still get the discount: it was worth just over €50!

Eventually, someone with some sense agreed that they would apply the discount. Phew! Initially, the shop assistant was insisting I would have to pay the full price because I didn't purchase it online! Even though I explained why it was impossible for me to do so! Yet, it still cost more than if I'd purchased the same battery in the U.K. So it goes!

I must admit that I'm rather pleased, or perhaps relieved, to have removed the vehicle battery issue from my life. No more will it or won't it start anxiety, and I have a guarantee should anything go wrong with it. So (vehicle battery) peace of mind restored!

After the battery swap, it was a supermarket sweep, followed by a drive to the Emita. Arrival time, approximately 8.30pm!

Here's a photo of the van at its current parkup location:

  • Distance driven: 37 miles
  • Distance cycled: 0
  • Weather: Mostly overcast with occasional rain and it's forecast to be worse tomorrow!
