Day 6: el Saler (Cycling)
I can report that after a great day out on the bike I had a
Just like last year, in order to bypass the agglomeration of Bayonne etc, I paid the motorway tolls (€8.70), which saved half the time (about 45 minutes) and was more fuel efficient than getting caught up in the urban traffic system.
Also, I can confirm that when driving at an average of 38.4 miles per gallon, I can drive from Dieppe to the Easy Gas petrol station in Irun and have about 7 litres of fuel to spare in the fuel tank. The typical cost per litre for diesel (le gazole or gasoil) in France was approximately €166.9 per litre; 26 cents greater than that which I paid in Irun - saving me €18.98!
On descending into Spain from France I saw the sun for the first time in more than a week. Unfortunately, on climbing over, and descending from, the Pyrenees it was back to low cloud and fog again. So it goes!
I arrived in Zaragoza at about 3pm and it was nice to relax after nearly three days of mostly driving, eating, sleeping and blogging!
