Day 33: Torre de la Horadada (Cycle)
A fairly easy day out on the bike with just one climb to overcome. Much of the route to the climb's start was alongside an aqueduct. As can be seen in this photograph, the aquaduct is currently not ducting much in the way of aqua! But, the adjacent path is ideal as a cyclepath!

Although I didn't follow the aqueduct to it's source, looking at a map when I returned to the van shows that it joins up with the Embalse de La Pedrera:

Eventually I arrived at the reason for embarking on this ride: the climb of Alto los Ginovinos.
The stats are (Curtesy of Climbfinder):
Length: 9.7 km
Average gradient: 3.9%
Steepest 100 metres: 10%
Total ascent: 374 m
The reason for cycling up and over it:
- because it is there!
- because, it would appear that the climb is one that is/was popular with Alejandro Valverde (Spanish pro-cyclist) who lives/lived close to Murcia (the climb is south of Murcia) in the pueblo of Las Lumbreras.
Just in case you may forget that cyclists also I have a right to cycle safely on roads, the climb offers this reminder:

New Spanish word of the day: Desvio
English translation: Detour
Fortunately, the detour was in the direction I was wanting to travel!
- Distance driven: 0
- Distance cycled: 85 kilometres
- Weather: Mostly sunny to start, clouding over later. T's about 20°C. Light airs to start, a little windier later. The wind was warmer than on previous rides this year in Spain. It felt warm all day ... no cold feet!
