Day 35: Moraira (Ciclismo)
The plan was to have a relaxing day on the bike sightseeing, which was never likely to be realised when the Cumbre del Sol, amongst other climbs, are included in the route. Nonetheless, I did think that it maybe possible if I took it easy, which proved to be "pie in the sky" thinking when the climbs were actually encountered.
Also, cycling the final 15 kilometres or so turned out to be a dash back to the van as I tried to avoid what looked like rain coming my way; as it was, the rain didn't arrive until some three hours after my return!
Having said all that I enjoyed the ride, which included:
- Cumbre del Sol reverse;
 - Descent and then on to Xabia;
 - Climb out of Xabia towards Denia;
 - A visit to Mirador las Rotas;
 - A steep climb to the Torre del Gerro;
 - A descent and climb from Denia to the lighthouse turn off;
 - A descent of "The Wall" to the Port of Xabia
 - Initially, a steady return cycle towards Moraira until I noticed the darkening clouds in that direction, which induced an increase in velocity:

A photo from Cumbre del Sol - just in case you'd forgotten what the masts looked like:

A photo taken slightly lower down looking toward Moraira and Calpe - the "o" is where my van was parked, amongst a multitude of other "campers"!:

The sign at the Mirador las Rotas - informing you of all the things you can and cannot do:

The Torre del Gerro:

A view of Xabia from "The Wall" - in the distance you can see a section of road that I descended the Cumbre del Sol from:

It was supposed to be easy, it was not, and now I'm more tired than I'd hoped to be!
- Distance driven: 0
 - Distance cycled: 66 kilometres
 - Weather: Cloudless skies when I set off and a cool breeze. Temperatures about 13°C (although it was about 6°C at 8am). Clouding over in the afternoon and, as I write this at about 9pm, it is now raining!
