Day 4: el Saler (South of Valencia)

Given the temperature in Zaragoza (1°C and overcast), I decided to head further south to Valencia. On arrival at about 3.30pm the temperature was roughly 14°C. A temperature that is very much more conducive to cycling! It did look as though it had been raining. However, the weather is looking good for the next couple of days.

I can confirm that the drive from Glasgow (via New Malden (S. W. London), Newhaven, (free miles to Dieppe), Noyant-Villages, Bénesse-Maremne and Zaragoza) to Valencia is 1474 miles and cost £220.44 (using an exchange rate of £1 = €1.18, i.e., €1 equals approx. 85 pence); and rounding to the nearest penny gives a fuel cost of: 15 pence per mile! Please note, the foregoing summary does take into account some minor routing errors on my behalf!

I stopped south south-west of Valencia to refuel and, here is a photo of some wrecked cars, which I assume were damaged by the recent biblical rainstorm.

And here is where I'm parked:

  • Distance driven: 223 miles
  • Distance driven Dieppe to Valencia: 959 miles (€163.54)
  • Distance cycled: 0 kilometres
  • Weather: 1°C and overcast at 10am in Zaragoza; 14°C with sunshine and clouds and it looked as though it had rained prior to my arrival in Valencia.
