Day 54: El Campello (Alicante)

Evening in El Campello:

I was going to make a visit to Alicante anyway. So when I awoke and it was wall-to-wall cloud I thought that today's the day. The sun did eventually come out at about 1pm-ish, but was away again by about 5.30pm-ish.

Not much happening other than:

1. buying some sourdough;
2. and some coffee;
3. had some mighty fine ice cream from Anomaly (one scoop of pistachio (my current ice cream of choice) and one with moscatel wine, egg and cream, which was surprisingly good)
4. a visit to a second hand bookshop, where I purchased a book of odes by Pablo Neruda;
5. on return to El Campello it was time for a quick supermarket sweep;
6. then feeding time; and
7. now I'm writing this whilst at the laundarette!

Somehow, over the past few days I have acquired multiple insect bites, which are exceptionally itchy: maximum will power is being employed so as not to scratch them. I have two different kinds of insect bite ointment, neither of which seem to be making the slightest difference to the level of itchiness!! Probably, both are varieties of modern day "snake oil"!

• Weather: Mostly overcast, with a few hours of intermittent sunshine. Due to the chill in the air, for much of the day I had to put on another layer of clothing!
