Day 60: Serón (Cycle)

First of all I'd like to thank whoever it was that left this kind encouragement! (How did you know I'd be cycling on this road today?)

Another day, another climb up to collado Venta Luisa (1970 metres), but attacking it from the north this time.

However, prior to reaching this high point of the day, I had to pass through three additional collados:

I am glad that I cycled to collado Venta Luisa via the the three collados because the return route's descent illustrated to me just how much harder it would have been to climb to today's high point starting in Tíjola. Actually, I had originally planned to cycle in the opposite direction, but changed direction last night. However, basically, all I have done is to have delayed what will need to be tackled at a later date. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but it has to be done! I think I'll need to have "fresh legs"!

The good thing about climbing from Serón this morning was the amount of shade, which would very much help on a hotter day.

Here's a photo of Serón, taking shortly after starting the climb:

  • Distance driven: 0 miles
  • Distance cycled: 64 kilometres
  • Weather: Sunny, a little cooler, with mostly a gentle breeze. There was a strong breeze, headwind, as I descended from collado de Ramel.

Today's route:
