Day 66: Torvizcón (Cycle)

An overcast day, quite windy, but the temperature did reach about 20°C. Thunder and lightning a distinct possibility tomorrow. So it was good to get out today.

The first climb of the day was about 24 kilometres in length (about 15 miles), but it was not monotonically up. So there were opportunities to give the legs a little rest and recover a little for the next section of up!

On the way up, I passed through Cádiar, Alcútar ...

... Bérchules and Juviles, but from a different direction this time.

Eventually, I arrived at Trevélez ...

... famous for its air dried jamon and, at an elevation of 1486 metres, is sometimes claimed to be the highest village in Spain.

The next port of call was:

Spanish word of the day:
Portichuelo: Low pass in the foothills of a mountain.

Finally, it was mostly down hill, except for the steep climb from the bridge over the Rio Guardalfeo up to the junction with the A-348 (Average gradient 10%).
