Day 68: Rincón de la Victoria (Cycle/Drive)

Sometimes things don't go to plan. Today's planned cycle ride was a victim of unforeseen circumstances without a satisfactory alternative outcome. The unsatisfactory option, that was forced upon me, was to make a u-turn and partially retrace my route back to Vélez-Málaga.

Yes my journey was cut short. This was because at kilometre 38.4 of 88, the road was cortado! And the workmen refused to let me pass. I can't think of any other occasion when this has happened to me!

Looking for a possible work around, it quickly became clear that there wasn't one.

However, I did manage to cycle up to Alcaucin ...

... and up to Canillas:

... before this unfortunate happenstance.

All this meant that I returned to my van much earlier than expected. So, once I'd showered and had something to eat, I drove to Rincón de la Victoria. Where, on arrival, I went to the ice cream shop that I'd previously almost lost my wallet, and had myself a consolation ice cream!

Perhaps, there will be another opportunity to complete this route!
