I was pleased to be out on the bike today. The weather forecast indicated there would be reasonably good weather until about 1pm, so I went for a shortened ride of 55 kilometres. Actually the rain started a little later than forecast and, at about 6pm, I had to turn the van around so that it faced into the wind: speeds were in the 30-65 kph range! 65 kph being equivalent to about 40 mph. It is predicted to be windy tonight and in to tomorrow.
As for the sightseeing, here we see just a fraction of the vegetable growing plots located in the valley I was descending in to:
Which is located in the vicinity of San Isidro
Later I did pay another visit to Rodalquilar ...:
... So that I could took a look at the old gold mine:
Finally, I stopped at this Mirador:
The gradient of the bit of road you can see is about 12%.
A pleasant ride was had. On return I had some time, before the rain, to fix a rear tyre deflection issue (at least I hope it is now fixed!) and to trying and work out why the gear shifter is not operating as smoothly as I'd like when shifting up through the gears. I was not convinced that I had satisfactorily solved the issue when it started to rain! Hopefully, all will be well on tomorrow's ride (fingers crossed for cycling weather and smooth gears!).
