Day 113: Leulinghen-Bernes (Drive)
Well it was a chilly night in Maire. In fact it was so unexpectedly cold
So each day one of the tour leaders rides sweep. That is, they leave camp after a reasonable period of time and ride the route with the aim of ensuring that we all reach that day's destination. They carry tools and a first aid kit to patch up either cyclist or machine.
Anyway, because it was a relatively short day, only 37 miles, I paid a visit to Mojoe's Cafe in Damascus for coffee, cookies and to update my blog, which all took a little longer than anticipated and, as a consequence Creed, that day's sweep, joined me in the coffee shop.
So we road the route together, stopping at the Harvest Restaurant in Meadowview on route. And what a good decision it was to stop at this eatery. The food is excellent and the staff friendly. I had Chilled Strawberry Soup followed by Rhubarb and Strawberry Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream. Both were excellent. So the Harvest Restaurant is highly recommended, not only that, they use local produce.
Cycling was excellent again today, much climbing and fast descending.
