Day 75: Pueblo Salinas (Chores!)

Today's itinerary:

  1. 08:25, cycle to bakery for bread (that which I purchased was not exactly what I wanted, but it will do. It is significantly better than nought! On the way back to the van it was trying to rain, which the weather gods have been threatening to do all day but, so far, there only been a few spots-and-spots.)
  2. Milk (ok)
  3. Cleaning and tidy-up (not too onerous)
  4. Visit nearby motorhome campsite to empty grey and black water and top up fresh water tank (it cost €4, but was a necessary spend because I'd just about filled the poop tank! was low on fresh water and the grey tank was just about full. However, I did have to wait because both slots for emptying and filling were in use when I arrived - about 15 minute delay.)
  5. Visit to a laundromat (Very necessary: Primarily because I had no clean cycling gear left to wear! Unfortunately, there was a significant delay here due to someone hogging one of the driers, whilst the other had only just started with 24 minutes to go, just as my wash had finished! Sod's law! So back to the van I went so that I could at least start this post. Obviously, I arrived at the Lavenderiá with plenty of time before it closed [I remain somewhat traumatised by my earlier experience, even though I have laundered since that unfortunate occurrence ... maybe I have a mild case of PTSD!] (I arrived at 13:30 - it closes at 22:00);
  6. Re-stock fridge victuals (completed whilst washing machine was doing its stuff);
  7. Dispose of rubbish and recycle the recycling (yippee, the final task!. It is now 17:47 .... time to make dinner).

For those who have yet to enjoy a visit to a Spanish Lavandería, here are a couple of photographs to whet your appetite!

Here we see my wee van in amongst the big boys and girls .... obviously, it isn't size that matters, it's what you do with it that counts ... apparently!

Oh yes, and by the way, I'm the only Irish citizen(!) amongst a pack of French and Germans.

  • Distance driven: 7 miles
  • Distance cycled: 9 miles
  • Weather: Mixed, overcast at times, brightening up with cumulus clouds, then mostly blue skies, followed by more clouds and almost all the time on the verge of discharging water. In the end, hardly any rain at all.
