Day 95: Cabra (Drive)
Last night I returned to the van at about 11.40pm from the bar. Fortunately
As you will discover, sometimes my brain creates a lot of unnecessary work for my legs!
The reason for today's route:
I have cycled to Puerto del Leon from two directions and I wished to cycle to it from a third, which I had previously descended from the Puerto on.
However, I did take a minor 24 kilometre detour to Colmenar on the way:
Here's a photograph taken on that detour looking towards the Sierra Nevada:
Here's where I had my lunch stop ... :
... Before, making the final assault of the Puerto.
Given my route home passed by yesterday's Heladeria Artesanal it would have been churlish to not pop in for some more ice cream. I enjoyed yesterday's choices so had the same again today! It was just as good.
That's all the good, now for the bad! Having returned to the van and started to heat up some lentil and vegetable soup, I discovered I was without my card/money holder! Obviously, my anxiety levels rose a little! My main concern was I'd be without credit and bank cards (there was also €65 that could be potentially lost to me).
Having switched off the gas hob, I (mostly) ran (perhaps, it was more of a jog!) (about 1.5 km) back to the ice cream shop and was pleased that the young lady behind the counter had my card/money holder and all the cards and money were there. PHEW! I did off a reward, but it was rejected. I did offer a reward for the second time and again it was rejected ... I didn't make a third offer but, instead, "le dio las gracias" (I gave her thanks).
Thankfully, another potential disaster averted!
