Day 98: Sequeros (walk/Drive/Cycle)

After breakfast I took a walk into Béjar to visit the local Panaderia. The locals were queuing out the door! Fortunately there was some pan integral left for me to buy. So that's breakfast sorted for a few days. The return walk was nicer than the outward bound one. At least I know for next time, should there be one!

On return to the van, after a tidy-up, it was time to drive to Sequeros. Where I arrived at about 12.30pm. The cycling started at 1pm ish.

It was only 54 Kilometres long, with about 1,100 metres of climbing. With most of the climbing occurring on the climb up the descent that I enjoyed the other day through Valero from San Miguel de Valero.

As expected the climb is very good and, therefore, recommended.

Just the one photo today, taken just outside of Valero:

Like many of the recent rides, today's ride ended with a 5.6 kilometre climb with an average gradient of 6%, with a few ramps in excess of 10%. Ending a ride with a climb is never a good way to end a ride. Definitely, it is better to end it with a descent. Especially when the sun is beating down on you. But, when your ride starts at an elevation of 920 metres, the probability of the ride ending in a climb is quite high!

Well, when I returned to the van at about 3.30pm the temperature in the van was about 30°C and, even fully ventilated, the temperature didn't start to drop below 30°C until about 8.30pm. There was, and still is, virtually no wind. Currently, at 10.18pm it is 22°C.

I maybe wrong, but I think that today has been the hotest I've experienced this year. The higher temperature is because the wind is:

  1. very much reduced in speed; and
  2. what there is, is predominantly a southerly (warming) rather than northerly (cooling).

It is forecast to be much the same tomorrow!
