Day 113: Leulinghen-Bernes (Drive)
Well it was a chilly night in Maire. In fact it was so unexpectedly cold
It started off very hot, windy and humid and just got hotter and hotter as the day progressed, which made progress slower than I'd like, but it is either that or melt and overheat. Just need to slow down and enjoy the views of corn field after corn field after corn field .... !
It would appear that south, south-easterly winds are the norm for this time of the year, as are the high temperatures and humidity. Last year we had the high temperatures, but not the humidity. The humidity combined with the heat and headwinds does not make for ideal cycling conditions.
It seems perverse to me that they should choose this time of the year for RAGBRAI (Ride Across Iowa).
