Day 128: Dieppe (Drive)

That's it folks, the last day of the latest Spain/France adventure.

  • The day started with a second lie-in in two days!
  • Up at about 9pm.
  • Had usual breakfast of champions.
  • The did the usual chores to keep this "show on the road"!
  • Met up with Michael and Rachel for lunch.
  • Left Saumur at 14:05.
  • The first stop was to make a repair to the "Heath Robinson" anti-rattle device I made some months ago. The poor state of the road I was driving on caused high amplitude vibrations; causing a bond between a piece of plastic and a "damper" to fail, which was quickly fixed by a wee dodd of superglue!
  • The second stop was to refuel, only to discover that they'd run out of diesel!
  • The third stop was to refuel at €2.16 a litre. My last purchase of diesel in Spain was €1.64 a litre, and when I arrived in Valencia in January I was paying about €1.22 a litre. Is Trump a Numpty? I think so!
  • The fourth stop was at a garden centre to buy seeds.
  • The fifth stop was at a laundrette in Dieppe, which had closed just as I was arriving at 9pm! It is supposed to close at 10pm, but the last wash start time is 9pm. So I imagine it had already closed because no one else in Dieppe wants to do their washing at that time of the night on a Monday. Except me!
  • No matter, I fed myself and disposed of rubbish and recycling.
  • The sixth stop was at the ferry terminal at about 22:45.
  • The sailing was scheduled for 23.59.
  • The ferry left a little late, but arrived at little early! No complaints then!

Until next time dear reader, I hope the remainder of 2026 brings you good health, wealth and happiness.
