Day 127: Saumur (Cycle)
Another rainy start to the day that wasn't too annoying as it gave me the opportunity for a lie-in until 9am-ish and to write up the previous day's post.
Cycling commenced after a late lunch and the sun came out to play. The plan was to take the train to Angers and return to Saumur by bike. On arrival at Saumur railway station we discovered that all of the cycle reservations were already taken!
Plan B was initiated, and we set-off on a 67 kilometre circular route.
The theme of the ride was big skies and watching nearby BIG BLACK clouds develop, resulting in showers and many a rainbow. We were very lucky, because we managed to evade all of the deluges, and were only subject to a few spits-and-spots of rain towards the ride's end. Result!
With the late start we were obviously riding during the late afternoon/early evening, and it made for some very pleasant riding.
Time to cross the river Loire:

Looks like a good place to stop for refreshments (when the place is open!):
