Day 126: Saumur (Drive/Cycle)
I arrived in Saumur at midday-ish.

Michael and Rachel weren't due to arrive until 13:30-ish. So I went for a walk around the town, as an excuse to get ice cream! One scoop of pistachio and one of Caramel au beurre salé (more commonly known as: salted butter caramel).
Then I encountered the usual non-user-friendly performing mobile phone app. But, first of all I discovered I couldn't access the motorhome campsite that I'd pre-booked using the Camping-car website. Instead, I was forced to install their app so that I could obtain the necessary 6-digit code for the campsite barrier.
Having, obtained the code, entered the site, found acamping site, I discovered that, instead of entering camping area via my pre-paid booking, somehow I'd entered as an unreserved camper and, if I didn't leave the campsite within five minutes I'd be charged €16. Obviously I left, looped round and re-entered, this time (I hope!) without incurring additional charges!
Oh yes, in addition, it was raining!
However, by about 4pm the weather was brightening up and so Michael and I went for a cycle ride, during which it only rained on us for the final ten minutes or so.
Indeed, the rain started soon after our route "home", via the troglodyte "village" was barred by a "concert" taking place on "main street" (actually the only street).

So we were forces to make a u-turn!
We left at about 4.30pm and return at just about 8pm. Dinner commenced at 9pm, and mighty fine it was too: boeuf bourguignon, with homemade lemon cheesecake for dessert. Yumyum!
Bed about midnight, woke up at 6am, fell back to sleep, woke again at about 9am .... best night's sleep in days!
