Day 113: Leulinghen-Bernes (Drive)
Well it was a chilly night in Maire. In fact it was so unexpectedly cold
So the Bourbon tasting turned out to be a promotional evening forJim Beam. We had:
Single Barrel
Signature Craft (12 year old)
Signature Craft Rare Spanish Brandy
Knob Creek Smoked Maple
Hornitos Black Barrel (Tequila)
It would appear that in the USA 58% of the disposable income is in the hands of the woman of the house. Accordingly, this evenings tasting was an education in how to make and market bourbon to women. That is, take a man's drink and feminise it by masking the taste (for example with maple or cinnamon) and making it sweeter, or as a cocktail!
One of the highlights of Harrodsburg is Tim's restaurant: Kentuky Fudge Co. I visited it twice yesterday (afternoon coffee and evening meal). And this morning for coffee, raspberry muffin and chocolate covered cherry ice cream (at 9.30 am!). Highly recommended.
Here is Tim, Creed and I in the restaurant.
Yet more great cycling and views. Also visited the birth place of Lincoln's Father. Here are some photographs:
